About

"Good Business for me is doing the right thing for the horse and rider."

Elizabeth Stewart, known commonly these days as Liz, grew up with horses in her blood on a Standardbred breeding farm in Lexington, Kentucky. It is here that she gained a passion and love of horses as well as learning the ins and outs of raising and selling horses. It is her parents business that set the standard for her own business practices which centers around putting the client first. As her dad always states "what goes around, comes around".

Starting out working with yearlings on the farm led to riding lessons at the local hunter/jumper barn and the acquisition of a grouchy pony that taught her how to ride and the thrill of A-show competition.

Growing up in the Keeneland Pony Club as well as an active member of the Lexington 4-H helped fill in any missing horsemanship knowledge as well as convert her from the active Hunter/Jumper competitor to a wanna-be upper level Event rider. Seeking out local dressage and cross country help, it wasn't long before her dreams took her from the Bluegrass to the hands of Emily Beshear, an advanced rider in Charlottesville Virginia, who not only solidified her goals but taught her what it would take to get to the top level. Taking her advice and other professionals in the area, after graduating high school she decided to take a year deferment from starting college to work with one of the sport's best, Phillip Dutton.

Coming to True Prospect Farm was a life changing decision and one of the best experiences to further her riding career. She was able to learn from some of the best riders and instructors located at Phillip Dutton's facility. Phillip along with his assistant trainers, Bonnie Mosser and Heidi White, taught her how to ride accurate dressage tests and stadium rounds as well as confident cross country courses. She found a knack for dealing with the young horses and soon was in charge of breaking and training the 2 year olds and young horses brought to the farm.

During the year deferment she also qualified her young horse for a one star but sadly at the last lead up event he slipped and fractured his stifle. However as fortune would have it, upon returning to Kentucky shortly after to attend college at Bellarmine University she was given another young thoroughbred named Weatherman by local horseman Jim Fitzgerald that lead her to even greater things. She worked hard getting her Bachelor's Degree in Equine Science with a concentration in Equine Therapy as well as training as much as possible with Phillip during the winter and summer breaks. Weatherman went on to help her compete at her first CCI** at Bromont in 2007 finishing 6th.

After graduating college in 2008 she returned to Pennsylvania to start her own eventing stable down the road from Phillip Dutton's farm. Liz has been blessed with some great horses completing over 18 FEI events through the CIC***.  She has competed at Fair Hill International CCI** in 2009, 2011, and 2015 having top 25 placings on horses she has produced from the ground up.  She also furthered her education branching out to train dressage up to 3rd and 4th level with Grand Prix dressage rider Jules Anderson in Jupiter Florida for two seasons. She then went on to train pure show jumping doing some work in Pa with grand prix rider Michael Walton before going and training intensely with Grand Prix masters Scott Keach and Sharn Wordley. With Scott and Sharn she went thru a rigorous program to perfect her jumping.

She has now come back to Pa where she feels at home in the Equine business. Liz is based out of the beautiful Summerbank Farm in Malvern Pa. Here she has access to all the great facilities, events, shows and upper level riders in the surrounding area. She is actively competing in events at the upper levels of Eventing and Show Jumping. She loves teaching and would love to help you and your horse achieve your highest goals whether it be in eventing, show jumping, dressage, or pleasure!
